Six weeks old and Zilla’s babies are officially on the move. ❤️

This is one of those weeks when we look at the wagon and wonder where our tiny babies went. Their personalities are blooming, their confidence is growing, and each puppy is becoming more distinctly themselves.

At six weeks, our Australian Labradoodle puppies are entering an incredibly important stage of development. Their world continues to expand with new sights, sounds, surfaces, people, places, and experiences, but always in ways appropriate for where they are developmentally.

The little things we started weeks ago are beginning to come together. Potty habits are becoming more established. Crate experiences are becoming part of their routine. Grooming and handling continue so that having paws, ears, mouths, and bodies touched simply feels like a normal part of life. Play is becoming more interactive, and everyday experiences become opportunities to practice confidence, curiosity, and recovery.

We aren’t trying to create puppies who have never encountered something surprising. We want puppies who learn that something new or unexpected isn’t a reason to panic. They can investigate it, process it, recover, and move forward.

That ability to confidently navigate the world is one of the most valuable foundations we can give them.

And then there are the personalities.

At six weeks, we are seeing so much more of who these puppies are becoming. Who approaches first. Who watches before joining. Who wants to be in the middle of everything. Who thinks before acting. Who seeks people. Who loves a challenge. Who makes us laugh every single day.

These observations matter because raising well-rounded Australian Labradoodle puppies isn’t simply about exposing them to things. It’s about knowing the puppy standing in front of us and helping that individual puppy develop.

There is still plenty of growing left to do, but Week 6 feels different.

The wagon is fuller. The puppies are bigger. The personalities are bolder.

And somehow, we’re already getting closer to the day these little faces leave our home and become part of yours.

Week 5 | August 22
Five weeks old is one of my favorite stages of raising Australian Labradoodle puppies because suddenly, the nursery is full of little dogs.

Zilla’s puppies are becoming increasingly active, curious, and engaged with the world around them. Their coordination is improving every day, play is becoming more purposeful, and they are beginning to explore new surfaces, objects, sounds, and experiences with growing confidence.

Learning Through Play

At this age, play is much more than entertainment. It is an important part of puppy development.

The puppies wrestle, chase, pounce, mouth, and interact with one another throughout the day. These tiny games are teaching them valuable lessons about canine communication, appropriate play, boundaries, and bite inhibition.

Zilla, along with Eevee and Waffle are playing an important role in that education. We believe puppies benefit tremendously from continued access to their mother and littermates during these critical developmental weeks. Mom communicates in a way humans simply cannot replicate, helping her puppies begin learning appropriate social behavior and how to respond when another dog says, “That’s enough.”

Building Confidence Through Puppy Enrichment

Our Australian Labradoodle puppy socialization and enrichment program continues to expand during Week 5.

The puppies are given opportunities to climb, crawl, balance, investigate, problem-solve, and experience different textures and surfaces. New objects and age-appropriate challenges are introduced thoughtfully, allowing the puppies to explore without overwhelming them.

The goal isn’t to create puppies that have never experienced uncertainty. It is to give them opportunities to encounter something unfamiliar, investigate it, work through it, and discover that they are safe.

That process is how confidence begins.

Their Individual Differences Are Beginning to Emerge

This is also the stage when we begin seeing meaningful differences between puppies.

Some puppies approach something new immediately. Others prefer to watch before joining in. Some are persistent problem-solvers, while others are more socially focused. These early observations are only pieces of a much larger picture, but over the coming weeks they help us understand each puppy as an individual.

This is one reason Noble Vestal Australian Labradoodles does not assign puppies based simply on who chooses a photograph first. We spend weeks living with, handling, observing, socializing, and evaluating our puppies so we can consider the temperament and characteristics of each puppy when matching them with their future family.

Five Weeks Down, So Much Still to Learn

The sleepy newborn stage has officially disappeared.

Over the next few weeks, Zilla’s puppies will continue building confidence, developing social skills, experiencing new challenges, and preparing for life beyond the puppy nursery.

These weeks go incredibly fast, but they are some of the most important weeks of a puppy’s life.

Week 4 | August 8
Zilla’s puppies have started eating the Chicken & Sweet potato formula of Paw Tree but haven’t given up the milk bar. We do not remove our mommas from their puppies. While many breeders are anxious to remove the momma from puppies and return them to their guardians, we know how crucial it is to allow puppies to have access to their mother. This is a crucial developmental stage where puppies start to learn play behaviors like bite inhibition. Puppies who are removed from their litter and mother too early often do not learn this skill. The puppies have mastered their two step slide and are working on the wobble board and tunnel. Sensory landscape helps the puppies build confidence. Climbing, sliding down uneven surfaces, standing on the wobble board and playing in the dark tunnels are all things that help produce mentally and physically stable puppies.

Week 4 | August 15, 2026
Four weeks old is one of our favorite stages of puppy development, and Zilla’s miniature Australian Labradoodle puppies are changing almost daily.

The sleepy newborn stage is officially behind us. These little chocolate babies are walking, playing, wrestling with their littermates, and beginning to explore their environment with so much more confidence. Their personalities are also starting to peek through. Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll begin seeing more of the individual traits that will eventually help us determine which puppy is the best fit for each family.

At four weeks, their world is intentionally getting bigger.

The puppies are spending time on our sensory landscape, where they encounter different textures, surfaces, movement, sounds, and age-appropriate obstacles. Wobble boards, tunnels, small climbing challenges, and unstable surfaces may look like puppy play, but each experience has a purpose. These early opportunities encourage curiosity, body awareness, problem-solving, recovery, and confidence.

They are also beginning the transition to puppy food while continuing to nurse from Zilla. We allow our mothers to remain involved with their puppies rather than abruptly separating them once weaning begins. During these next several weeks, Zilla and the other puppies become important teachers. Through normal interaction and play, the puppies begin learning canine communication, boundaries, bite inhibition, and how to respond when another dog says, “That was too much.”

This is one of the reasons we believe so strongly that raising exceptional Australian Labradoodle puppies is about much more than simply keeping puppies clean, fed, and loved. These early developmental weeks matter.

Our goal at Noble Vestal Australian Labradoodles is to raise puppies who are prepared for life beyond our home. Every new surface explored, tiny problem solved, interaction with their mother, and carefully chosen experience becomes another building block toward the confident, adaptable family companions we want them to become.

And somehow, while all of that important development is happening, they are also becoming ridiculously adorable little chocolate fluff balls. 🤎

Week 3 | August 8, 2026
I never get tired of watching puppies grow and develop.

Even after all these years, I still find it fascinating how each litter reaches the same developmental milestones at almost the same time. One day their world is small, quiet, and centered around Mom. Then suddenly, they are ready for more.

Those milestones matter because puppy development happens in stages, and each stage creates an opportunity to introduce something new.

At Noble Vestal Australian Labradoodles, we are intentional about making sure our puppies are in an age-appropriate environment at the right time. Introduce too much too early, and you can create unnecessary stress. Wait too long, and you can miss an important developmental window when puppies are naturally ready to absorb new experiences.

There is a rhythm to raising puppies well. You don’t rush development, but you don’t sit back and wait for it either. You watch for the puppy to tell you, through development, that it is ready for the next step.

And Zilla’s puppies just told us they were ready.

They have officially graduated into a larger puppy pen with their first potty station and a carefully selected assortment of toys and new textures.

They aren’t really playing with the toys yet. That comes later.

Right now, they’re exploring.

A tiny paw lands on something that crinkles. A nose bumps something that rolls. Their feet move from one texture to another. Something shifts underneath them or makes an unexpected sound, and their little brains take note.

These experiences may look incredibly simple, but this is the beginning of purposeful puppy enrichment and early socialization.

It’s also why I can often recognize puppies that haven’t had these opportunities. Puppies raised with limited handling, without progressive socialization, without a potty station, or in an environment that doesn’t change as they develop can enter the world with very different skills and expectations.

Good puppy raising isn’t about throwing every possible experience at a puppy.

It’s about knowing what to introduce, when to introduce it, and when the puppy is developmentally ready for more.

Today, for Zilla’s Australian Labradoodle puppies, their world became just a little bit bigger.

And over the next few weeks, we’re going to keep expanding it right along with them.

Week 2 | July 31, 2026
This week brought one of our favorite milestones… their eyes are officially open!

For the first time, our Australian Labradoodle puppies are beginning to experience the world beyond the warmth of their mother and littermates. Their vision is still soft and blurry, but each day they become a little more aware of the movement, light, and activity around them.

They’re also becoming much more mobile. What started as tiny crawls across the whelping box has turned into adorable, wobbly walks. Their legs are getting stronger, their balance is improving, and they’re beginning to venture a little farther before settling back in for another nap.

Even though they’re spending more time awake, sleep is still one of the most important parts of their day. During these early weeks, puppies are growing at an incredible rate. Their brains, muscles, bones, and nervous systems are developing rapidly, making every nap just as important as every meal.

Our daily routine remains focused on giving each puppy the very best start in life. Every puppy is weighed regularly, receives gentle daily handling, and continues with our Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) program. These early experiences help build the foundation for confident, resilient companions as they continue to grow.

The next few weeks are some of the most exciting in puppy development. Soon we’ll begin introducing new textures, sounds, enrichment activities, and age-appropriate challenges that encourage confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving in a safe and positive way.

For now, we’re soaking up these precious moments. Tiny tails are starting to wag, little feet are finding their balance, and the adventure is just beginning.

Week 1 | July 25, 2026
One week has already passed since Zilla welcomed her seven beautiful puppies into the world, and while the changes may seem small from the outside, this first week is one of the most important periods of development.

Dogs are an altricial species, meaning puppies are born completely dependent on their mother. Unlike animals that are born ready to walk or see, newborn puppies enter the world with their eyes and ear canals sealed shut. They rely entirely on touch, scent, warmth, and instinct to find their mother, nurse, and stay safe.

During this first week, every ounce matters. Each puppy is steadily gaining weight, growing stronger, and using nearly all of its energy for rapid brain and body development. Their little legs are becoming more coordinated, their muscles are strengthening, and beneath those closed eyelids, their eyes continue developing in preparation for opening in the weeks ahead.

Zilla has settled beautifully into motherhood. She spends nearly every moment caring for her babies, keeping them warm, clean, and well-fed while they do exactly what nature designed them to do: eat, sleep, and grow.

Although there isn’t much excitement to the casual observer just yet, remarkable changes are happening every single day. This quiet first week lays the foundation for the confident, healthy companions these puppies will become.

Next week brings one of the milestones everyone looks forward to as the puppies begin preparing to open their eyes and experience the world in an entirely new way.

Day 1 | July 18, 2026
Welcoming puppies into the world will never grow old on me… I love holding newborn babies, feeling their hearts beat and their lungs filling with air for the very first time.

As the sun began to rise and our home slowly came to life, Zilla welcomed seven beautiful babies into the world. While the morning bustle was just beginning around us, she was quietly focused on the most important job of all, becoming a mother.

six gorgeous chocolate phantom puppies and one precious red puppy are now nestled beside her, warm, content, and nursing happily. Each one arrived strong, healthy, and determined, filling my office with the sweetest little sounds and reminding me once again why these moments never lose their magic.

Watching Zilla with her babies is exactly what we had hoped for when planning this pairing. Jam and Zilla were thoughtfully matched to produce affectionate, confident companions with loving temperaments and beautiful structure, puppies who will one day become treasured members of their families.

For our waitlist families, this is such an exciting milestone. With a litter of eight, there will be plenty of tiny personalities to watch unfold over the coming weeks. As always, puppies are not assigned by gender or color. We take the time to carefully match each puppy to the family they are best suited for, trusting that the right puppy always seems to find the right home.

Puppy photos 📸 are coming soon, and I cannot wait to introduce each of these little miracles to you. Today, though, we’re simply soaking in these first precious hours, grateful for a healthy mama, eight thriving babies, and another beautiful beginning.
