Week 4 | August 15
Waffle’s little boy is officially four weeks old, and this week brought one very big change.

He has officially moved in with Eevee’s puppies!

Being a singleton means his first few weeks looked a little different. He had Waffle all to himself. All the milk, all the snuggles, all the attention. But as wonderful as that sounds, there are some things that only other puppies can teach him.

And at four weeks old, those lessons are becoming incredibly important.

So now, he has siblings… well, honorary siblings.

He’s learning how to wrestle, chase, climb over somebody, get climbed over, and what happens when you bite your friend just a little too hard. This kind of puppy-to-puppy interaction is where important social skills like bite inhibition, communication, boundaries, and appropriate play begin to develop.

He’s also entering one of my favorite stages. He’s walking, playing, exploring his environment, and becoming more aware of everything happening around him.

Over the next few weeks, his world is going to get much bigger. New surfaces, sounds, toys, obstacles, people, experiences, and plenty of carefully planned puppy adventures.

He may have entered this world as Waffle’s one and only…

but he certainly isn’t growing up alone. He loves having siblings and is thriving!

And judging by his new roommates, I have a feeling things are about to get a whole lot more fun.

Week 3 | August 8
One of the most rewarding parts of raising Australian Labradoodle puppies is watching their development unfold day by day. At just three weeks old, this little guy is beging to reach some of the earliest puppy development milestones. These moments are not only adorable but scientifically important for setting the foundation of confident, well-adjusted Labradoodle puppies.

At this stage, environment matters. Puppies need age-appropriate surroundings that change as they grow, too early can cause unnecessary stress, but too late means missing critical windows for learning and imprinting. Proper handling, a clean potty station, and early exposure to new sights and sounds all play a role in healthy socialization. It’s easy to spot when a puppy hasn’t had this kind of start.

That’s why we’ve moved Waffle’s little fella. He is sharing space with Zilla’s puppies so that he gets the experience of having littermates. Their area has a potty area and a few toys. He has already started using their potty station! While they’re not quite playing yet, it’s fascinating to watch them explore textures and react to the little noises the toys make when touched. These small steps are the building blocks of curiosity, confidence, and resilience.

Week 2 | August 1
This week we continue to focus on handling daily and Bio-Senor feedback which helps puppies build healthy immune systems, improved cardio vascular performance, stronger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress and greater resistance to disease.

The U.S. Military in their canine program developed a method that still serves as a guide to what works. In an effort to improve the performance of dogs used for military purposes, a program called “Bio Sensor” was developed. Later, it became known to the public as the “Super Dog” Program. Based on years of research, the military learned that early neurological stimulation exercises could have important and lasting effects. Their studies confirmed that there are specific time periods early in life when neurological stimulation has optimum results. The first period involves a window of time that begins at the third day of life and lasts until the sixteenth day. It is believed that because this interval of time is a period of rapid neurological growth and development, and therefore is of great importance to the individual.

The “Bio Sensor” program was also concerned with early neurological stimulation in order to give the dog a superior advantage. Its development utilized six exercises, which were designed to stimulate the neurological system. Eyes are open!  The puppies still do not have full vision and won’t even at 8 weeks of age.  They can tell by smell if I or someone else has walked into the room.  They are moving on their own and actually standing up and taking a few steps.

This week Waffle’s puppy has continued to be handled daily and received Bio-Senor feedback which helps him build healthy immune systems, improved cardio vascular performance, stronger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress and greater resistance to disease. We have also started placing him in with Eevee’s babies while the moms are eating or doing their potty business. This will help him get used to being around other babies slowly so that when he is merged in with a litter he understands and reacts to them well.

Week One | July 31, 2026
It has been a big first week of life for this little fella. He has doubled in weight and is really very content. Waffle is a wonderful momma.

Dogs are an altricial species, meaning puppies are born completely dependent on their mother. Unlike animals that are born ready to walk or see, newborn puppies enter the world with their eyes and ear canals sealed shut. They rely entirely on touch, scent, warmth, and instinct to find their mother, nurse, and stay safe.

During this first week, every ounce matters. He is steadily gaining weight, growing stronger, and using nearly all of its energy for rapid brain and body development. his little legs are becoming more coordinated, their muscles are strengthening, and beneath those closed eyelids, their eyes continue developing in preparation for opening in the weeks ahead.

Waffle is a great mom and rarely leaves her baby. It takes her less than 5 minutes to do her business and she is right back by his side.

Although there isn’t much excitement to the casual observer just yet, remarkable changes are happening every single day. This quiet first week lays the foundation for the confident, healthy companion he will become.

Next week brings one of the milestones everyone looks forward to as the his eyes will begin preparing to open their eyes and experience the world in an entirely new way.

Welcoming puppies into the world will never grow old on me… I love holding newborn babies, feeling their hearts beat and their lungs filling with air for the very first time.

I was sure she would have 2 to 3 babies but is was just one chucky little guy.
