It is unreal how much they grow, change and develop in such a short period of time.

Eevee’s babies will be off to the vet this coming week for their final evaluation and then we will wrap up evaluations and announce assignments next Sunday evening. We post assignments here and on Facebook.

Families on our list should be in the middle of doing their Baxter & Bella puppy prep homework, have set up their first vet visit, made follow up appointments for their 12 and 16 week boosters, scheduled their first grooming appointment and have their shopping finished. We try to help set you up for success but if you’re not doing the things, I can only caution you that you will be behind when you pick up your puppy.

Week 5 | August 15
Five weeks old is one of my favorite stages of raising Australian Labradoodle puppies because suddenly, the nursery is full of little dogs.

Eevee’s puppies are becoming increasingly active, curious, and engaged with the world around them. Their coordination is improving every day, play is becoming more purposeful, and they are beginning to explore new surfaces, objects, sounds, and experiences with growing confidence.

Learning Through Play

At this age, play is much more than entertainment. It is an important part of puppy development.

The puppies wrestle, chase, pounce, mouth, and interact with one another throughout the day. These tiny games are teaching them valuable lessons about canine communication, appropriate play, boundaries, and bite inhibition.

Eevee continues to play an important role in that education. We believe puppies benefit tremendously from continued access to their mother and littermates during these critical developmental weeks. Mom communicates in a way humans simply cannot replicate, helping her puppies begin learning appropriate social behavior and how to respond when another dog says, “That’s enough.”

Building Confidence Through Puppy Enrichment

Our Australian Labradoodle puppy socialization and enrichment program continues to expand during Week 5.

The puppies are given opportunities to climb, crawl, balance, investigate, problem-solve, and experience different textures and surfaces. New objects and age-appropriate challenges are introduced thoughtfully, allowing the puppies to explore without overwhelming them.

The goal isn’t to create puppies that have never experienced uncertainty. It is to give them opportunities to encounter something unfamiliar, investigate it, work through it, and discover that they are safe.

That process is how confidence begins.

Their Individual Differences Are Beginning to Emerge

This is also the stage when we begin seeing meaningful differences between puppies.

Some puppies approach something new immediately. Others prefer to watch before joining in. Some are persistent problem-solvers, while others are more socially focused. These early observations are only pieces of a much larger picture, but over the coming weeks they help us understand each puppy as an individual.

This is one reason Noble Vestal Australian Labradoodles does not assign puppies based simply on who chooses a photograph first. We spend weeks living with, handling, observing, socializing, and evaluating our puppies so we can consider the temperament and characteristics of each puppy when matching them with their future family.

Five Weeks Down, So Much Still to Learn

The sleepy newborn stage has officially disappeared.

Over the next few weeks, Eevee’s puppies will continue building confidence, developing social skills, experiencing new challenges, and preparing for life beyond the puppy nursery.

These weeks go incredibly fast, but they are some of the most important weeks of a puppy’s life.

Week 4 | August 8
Eevee’s puppies have started eating the Chicken & Sweet potato formula of Paw Tree but haven’t given up the milk bar. We do not remove our mommas from their puppies. While many breeders are anxious to remove the momma from puppies and return them to their guardians, we know how crucial it is to allow puppies to have access to their mother. This is a crucial developmental stage where puppies start to learn play behaviors like bite inhibition. Puppies who are removed from their litter and mother too early often do not learn this skill. The puppies have mastered their two step slide and are working on the wobble board and tunnel. Sensory landscape helps the puppies build confidence. Climbing, sliding down uneven surfaces, standing on the wobble board and playing in the dark tunnels are all things that help produce mentally and physically stable puppies.

Week 3 | July 31
This week brings one of the most exciting milestones in early puppy development. Our Australian Labradoodle puppies have officially opened their eyes and are beginning to experience the world in a completely new way.

Although their vision is still blurry, they can now detect light, movement, and the shapes of their mother and littermates. Their eyesight will continue improving over the next several weeks as their visual system matures.

They’re also on the move! The tiny army crawls of the newborn stage have been replaced by adorable, wobbly walks. Their legs are getting stronger, their balance is improving, and they’re becoming more coordinated with each passing day. Watching them take those first determined steps never gets old.

With their eyes open and mobility increasing, the puppies are beginning to interact more with their environment. They spend short periods awake investigating their surroundings before settling back down to nurse and sleep. Every day brings new sights, new sensations, and new opportunities for healthy neurological development.

Our daily routine continues with careful health monitoring, gentle handling, and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). While the puppies are becoming more aware of the world around them, this is still a period of rapid physical growth. Plenty of sleep, consistent nursing, and exceptional care from their mother remain the most important parts of their day.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll begin to see even bigger changes. Their hearing will continue to develop, play behaviors will emerge, and we’ll introduce age-appropriate enrichment experiences that encourage confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving. This is when the transition from sleepy newborns to active, inquisitive puppies truly begins.

Week 2 | July 25
Eevee’s litter of Australian Labradoodle puppies are now two weeks old, and every day brings a little more growth. While they still spend most of their time sleeping and nursing, an incredible amount of development is happening behind the scenes.

Their eyes remain gently sealed shut, just as nature intended during this stage of development. For now, they experience the world through scent, touch, warmth, and the reassuring presence of their mother and littermates. Every day, their brains, nervous systems, muscles, and senses continue to mature, preparing them for the exciting milestones that are still to come.

Healthy weight gain remains one of our biggest priorities, and each puppy is thriving. We carefully monitor every baby daily to ensure they are nursing well, growing consistently, and meeting each developmental milestone along the way.

Our daily routine is intentionally calm and predictable. Mom continues providing exceptional care while each puppy receives gentle handling and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). These brief interactions support healthy neurological development and help lay the foundation for confident, resilient companions.

Although these first weeks may seem quiet, they are some of the most important. Every nap, every nursing session, and every cuddle is helping build healthy bodies and minds.

Before long, these tiny babies will begin discovering the world in entirely new ways. We can’t wait to share each milestone with you as their personalities begin to blossom.

Week 1 | July 18
Eevee’s three little babies have officially reached their first milestone, and they are absolutely thriving. Their days are wonderfully simple: eat, sleep, grow, and snuggle close to their mama. With only three puppies to care for, Eevee has embraced motherhood with such confidence, and each baby is flourishing under her watchful eye.

This first week is all about building a strong foundation. Behind the scenes, each puppy has been gently handled every single day, beginning our Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) protocols. These carefully timed exercises are designed to support healthy neurological development, confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills long before their eyes ever open.

Their little noses are becoming stronger every day, their bodies are filling out beautifully, and before long we’ll begin to see those first sleepy peeks as their eyes and ears start opening to the world.

One of my favorite things about this litter is simply watching them together. Two gorgeous red & white parti babies and one beautiful black & white parti baby all nestled together beside Eevee. It’s peaceful, quiet, and exactly how puppyhood should begin.

The adventure is just getting started, and over the next several weeks you’ll get to watch these tiny babies transform into curious, playful little companions.

Newborn | July 11
Welcoming puppies into the world will never lose its magic. There is something so humbling about holding a newborn puppy, feeling the tiny rhythm of a heartbeat against your hand, watching those first deep breaths, and knowing an entirely new story has just begun.

On Saturday evening, July 11, Eevee quietly welcomed three perfect babies into the world. Two beautiful red & white parti girls and one striking black & white parti made their arrival, each one healthy, strong, and eager to find their place beside their mama. By the end of the evening, the nursery was peaceful, filled with the soft sounds of content little puppies nursing and Eevee doing exactly what she was born to do… be a wonderful momma.

This was a pairing we had been looking forward to for a long time, thoughtfully planned with the hope of producing affectionate, intuitive companions with the signature Noble Vestal temperament our families know and love. Watching Eevee settle into motherhood while her three little babies curled up beside her was the perfect reminder that sometimes the smallest litters create the biggest moments.

With just three puppies, each one of these little babies will receive an incredible amount of individual attention, handling, and enrichment from the very beginning. Their journey is only beginning, and we are so excited to share each milestone with you over the coming weeks.
